All Naptown, All the Time
Is it possible for something to look cool with a garage at entry-level? I'm not sure, but I do kinda like it.
I was thinking the same thing. This is on Highland Av. in Holy Cross, btw. That area is filling in like crazy with new construction and rehab. Very dense for Indy too. East Side lots are tiny compared to north side, fountain square, etc.
How to make a garage door disappear with color, material choice, and good design. Kudos to the architect.Although I don't quite get the canopy over nothing to the left of the right-hand garage door. Looks like there should be another entry door there.
Oh, wait, there IS an entry. Because of the view-angle I didn't detect the stepped-back edge of the building.
These are just down the block from me and nicely complement the nixed styles on Sturm and in the neighborhood in general. And I'm not sure I agree with comment about lots being small. At least in the 1200-1400 blocks of Sturm, Vermont, and others, they are quite large.
